Don't sweat the small stuff, right?

Been an interesting few weeks since my last post, more ways then one really. I've gotten more comfortable in front of the classes, taught w/o needing or wanting "verification" on if I was doing things properly, all in all things are getting much more smoother then ever. I truly feel as if these classes are and have always been my own, and the students have (for the most part, seemingly) come around to me being their teacher, and not Adams. He helps that sentiment though by not answering student's questions when they could be pointed answered succinctly by me. That alone has helped boost my confidence, as well as the confidence of the students. One of the things that really made the past few weeks was having a student come up to me after class asking if I would write a letter of recommendation for her. That was cool having a student ask me that as a student teacher.

This week I had my second official observation. Everything went off without a hitch, minus my video camera battery dieing. So it goes, right? Other then no video for the day, things went smoothly. We (both classes) had great review sessions, and I am really confident in the kids knowledge of the subject material for the test tomorrow.

Class today went well as well, got tons of grades in the computer, which I had been meaning to get to for the past few days. With everything due Friday by 8 am, I needed to clear out this set of grades to make room for the next set that I am getting tomorrow. Many of the kids in both classes were looking forward to the group assignment, so hopefully they all put 110% into it. All have the capability of doing well, not all do so though. That gets frustrating, not having kids care or try. They can do the work, they just choose not to turn it in. So it goes.

After school though, well, the excrement hit the cooling appliances. Went to the dentist, found out that I have "stress and exhaustion" caused ulcer in the bottom of my gums. Then, when I was driving home, the rear driverside tire decided it was time to call is quit's and blew out on me, taking the bumper, back quater panel, and half the gas line with it. Go big or go home, right? Getting too and from school the rest of this week at weird hours that no one else lives/works, figuring out how I am getting to and from Vegas this weekend, and what I am going to be doing afterwards as well for transportation next week, projects to grade, lessons to teach, places to be and people to see, it will be fun. I'm suprised that I don't have more ulcers. Stress? Exhaustion? Not me!

First Post

This is the first time I have ever owned/used a blog before, so here goes nothing! This blog is going to revolve around my student teaching experience over at Basha High School in Chandler, Az. Mainly posts are going to be about how the day went, what things that I feel need work, as well as things that I think are going well.
